The following guest post was written by Harry, about his internship experience with us this summer.

As a Turfgrass Management student at Clemson University I learned about the Yellowstone Landscape internship program through the College of Agriculture Career Fair. It was there I met and spoke to Remington Phillips the Charleston Branch Manager and later Lisa Hall, the Intern Program Coordinator. After hearing what they had to say about the company and the internship program I was instantly interested. A few months later I met Remington and Corey Hendrix, my Mentor, at a conference in Myrtle Beach where we continued to discuss opportunities at Yellowstone Landscape. Soon after I accepted a position in their internship program.

Coming to Yellowstone Landscape I was nervous, as I had never worked in the commercial landscape industry before. I approached this opportunity head on with the desire to learn everything I could. The Charleston team was extremely helpful and willing to assist in any way they could. This made settling in seem less daunting and I have appreciated the help from everyone and the patience they have shown while learning.

At the beginning of my internship, Corey and I discussed several ideas for a project. Ultimately, we decided on a maintenance project at Wescott Baseball complex, in North Charleston. We verti-cut the outfield, top-dressed, and fertilized. Being an athlete, this was a very rewarding experience knowing other athletes would benefit from my project.

I have enjoyed my internship immensely and was able to work with some great managers like; Corey Hendrix, my Mentor, George Eglian, Billy Bennett, Chris Vince, and Kevin Holmes. Each one of these individuals shared a vast amount of knowledge and I cannot thank them enough! I have learned more over these past 12 weeks than I could have ever imagined. I am excited to take my new knowledge and developed skills back to school and know they will help me later in my career. Hopefully one day I can come back and work for this amazing company and be a part of this outstanding team of great people!
