The list of challenges on a property that spans over 100 acres is lengthy. First and foremost, the landscaping provider must have the experience to be able to maintain such a large area, along with a skilled, reliable workforce. Expectations are sky-high also, with thousands of church members and visitors using the property for more than a brief Sunday morning service, as the week is filled with church community events.
Other challenges included poor turf and palm tree health when Yellowstone Landscape initially took over the landscaping contract. Part of that issue was related to a faulty irrigation system. The rocky soil was also a factor that our teams had to immediately address. Not to mention the scorching Arizona heat and constant drought conditions.
Another hurdle is the scheduling of landscaping services around continuous property use (Sunday worship, school, recreational sports, seasonal celebrations, etc.). Maintaining a mix of artificial and natural turf fields added another layer of complexity. Finally, the most daunting challenge involved this church’s biggest event of the year (just months into a new partnership).
